Work has commenced on the 2nd Housing Project
Vie and Toouch's home is the second house to be built in our program of work at Kompheim village. The fmaily live here with two of their three children and Vie's mother. Their eldest child (17yrs) has moved to Siem Reap to work cleaning cars and try to help provide for the family. Their other two children are 7 and 10 years old and both go to school. Both Vie and Toouch work as farmers or labourers finding work wherever they can.
The family had no pump or water filter and needed to carry water in buckets for their daily use. Their house had no area for cooking and so all meals were prepared inside using three rocks as a fire hearth.
Work Commenced late August and will be finished by the end of the month. Our project will provide the following;
1. New home built in the local style raised off the ground.
2. Water Pump providing them with access to water
3. Water filter - to enable them to filter their water to make it safe
4. Fruit Trees
5. Vegetable Garden
6. Care pack including mosquito net, blankets, soap, basic dry food stuffs.

Update Nov 27th 2010
Lim has just returned from a catch up trip to Kompheim village and is very pleased to report the family are very happy and comfortable in their new house. They now have their own water pump and water filter and their lives are much easier without the pressure of having to haul water by bucket from neighbouring homes. The family has planted cucumber and beans on their land and hope to be harvesting these soon. We will add some pictures of the completed house shortly.
